There are a few Hall of Fame quarterbacks in NFL history that have wins over all 32 teams in the league, including Drew Brees, Brett Favre, and Peyton Manning. Tom Brady may even join that club in 2021 if he and the Bucs manage to take down New England in his return to Foxboro in Week four. On the opposite side of the quarterback spectrum, we have Ryan Fitzpatrick. Fitzpatrick has been somewhat of a journeyman throughout his career. He’s played for nine different organizations throughout his career so far, with the Football Team being his latest stop on the NFL tour. Since Fitzpatrick has played for a lot of different teams, he’s beaten a lot of different teams. But he’s also lost to a lot of different teams in his career. In fact, he’s lost to 28 different teams to date and could bring that number up to 31 after 2021 is all set and done.

The only teams he has not lost to yet are the Packers, Saints, Buccaneers, and Lions. Unfortunately, Fitzpatrick will not see the Lions on his schedule on 2021 unless Detroit and Washington defy astronomical odds and meet in the playoffs. But there is still a very good chance Fitzpatrick and the Football Team could lose to Green Bay, Tampa Bay, and New Orleans.

Just Because He’s Lost To Different Teams Doesn’t Make Him Bad

By the time his career is over, Ryan Fitzpatrick might have the chance to lose to 32 different teams in his career, assuming he plays the Lions at some point. But in his defense, he only has such a high number because he’s played for so many different teams. There is plenty of other good quarterbacks that have lost to a lot of different teams while playing for a significantly fewer number of teams. For example, Derek Carr, Jay Cutler, Joe Flacco, Eli Manning, Philip Rivers, Ben Roethlisberger, and Matt Ryan have all lost to 28 different teams in their careers.

If anything, losing to 28 or more different teams in your career as a starter is a testament to your durability and ability as a quarterback. The vast majority of starting quarterbacks in history don’t even come close to playing long enough to reach such a record. In my mind, Ryan Fitzpatrick has already made history as far as great careers go. The guy has put up above average numbers on virtually every team he’s played for. He’s been on plenty of bad teams, plenty of good teams, and had to learn the play books of countless different coaches. I’ll be cheering ‘Fitzmagic’ on this year in Washington, but I also kind of hope he gets the record of losing to 31 different teams.
