Richard Sherman Still Knows His Worth
In the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft, the Cowboys selected Oregon State cornerback Nahshon Wright at 99 overall. Wright finished his college career with 64 tackles, one sack, five interceptions, 11 pass deflections, and one forced fumble. In the last season alone, he had two interceptions, six deflections, and 30 tackles which were good enough to earn him All-Pac 12 honorable mention honors. While Nahshon Wright is a talented defensive back, he may have been just a little too full of himself after he was drafted. After being picked, Wright made a bold statement, in which he compared himself to the great Richard Sherman.
“I kinda look at myself as a more athletic and agile Richard Sherman,” Wright said, “Yeah that scheme fits perfect.”
Not long after Wright made that comment, Richard Sherman took note of the comparison and made it known on Twitter that he’s still the boss. The Sherman name is synonymous with being a troll, both on and off the field, so its only right that he called out the young fella for his comments.
Sherman Knows What It’s Like To Have That Shoulder Chip
Wright was a third-round pick. Sherman was a fifth-round pick back in 2011. Both are cornerbacks who play with a chip on their shoulder and aren’t afraid to be vocal about it. So it isn’t too surprising to hear Wright compare himself to Sherman. After sending out a tweet trolling Wright, Sherman made sure to give him the props he deserves in a tweet that he posted later.
Who knows? Maybe Nahshon Wright ends up having a storied career just like Richard Sherman. Only time will tell. But for now, we can just sit here and admire the tenacity and hunger of a kid coming into the NFL on one of the biggest stages in sports when he will get to play for the Dallas Cowboys.
