Despite what many people have said about his cold shoulder towards fans and his lackluster play in recent years, Jordan Spieth is a phenomenal golfer. People are so quick to judge golfers but those are the same people that go out and get slammed to play 18 holes with their buddies and can’t even hit a wedge straight. Golf is insanely hard, and even more difficult to perform at a high level consistently on the PGA Tour. Now, in 2021, Spieth is on absolute fire and it doesn’t appear that he will be slowing down any time soon.

Tomorrow is the opening round of the highly revered Masters tournament, and Spieth is coming off of his first PGA tournament victory since 2017. That’s 1,351 days and 83 starts ago. Spieth’s win last weekend at the Valero Texas Open was long overdue, and it is a sign of what is to come. Aside from that, Spieth has had four top-10 finishes in 2021, including his win at Valero. If there’s ever a good time to get hot in PGA season, it’s got to be right before the Masters. Yet who was not the least bit concerned about Jordan Spieth’s poor performance over the last three years? Jordan Spieth. Spieth is back with vengeance, and he doesn’t care what the media says.

“It’s not like I lost my tour card. I just wasn’t winning three times a year. I think if I won once a year since then you guys still might have called it slightly a slump off of some years. It’s all about whatever the expectations of the individual are and what they can manage from the outside.”

Who’s To Say Jordan Spieth Shouldn’t Be A Favorite At Augusta?

It’s also funny how people claim that Spieth was in a ‘slump’ when he is still only one of five players to ever win 12 tournaments before the age of 28. The other four? Phil Mickelson, Rory McIlroy, Justin Thomas, and Tiger Woods. Spieth’s odds look even better to win the Masters this weekend given the fact that 2020 Masters green jacket-winner Dustin Johnson has not looked like he did last year. Again, that anecdote doesn’t hold too much weight because golf has so many variables, and anybody could be playing horrible one weekend, then excellent the next. That’s just the nature of the sport. Jordan Spieth is only 27-years-old, and the cameras have been on him since he came out of the University of Texas at Austin and he lit up the PGA Tour. The pressure is on for him to perform at Augusta National in 2021, and I expect him to rise to the occasion.
