Seahawks Sign Devin Hester

The Seattle Seahawks faced huge questions on special teams following the injury to Tyler Lockett. After suffering a season-ending broken leg, Lockett’s injury left the Seahawks without a return man. Fox Sports’ Jay Glazer has reported that Seattle has found a new man for the job.

Devin Hester is one of the most revered return men in NFL history. Hester, a four-time pro bowler, was released earlier this season by the Baltimore Ravens. New England recently gave him a tryout but opted not to sign the 34-year-old.

In 12 games this season, Hester has averaged 7.2 yards per punt return and 24.5-yards on kickoff returns. Hester will likely get his first shot in the playoffs this weekend against the Lions. Adding Hester seems to make a lot of sense for Seattle. Before the signing, it was rumored that Richard Sherman would get the first crack at the job. That, of course, is far from ideal as you don’t want a player of that caliber risking injury.
