Shaq Barrett has re-signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. This was first reported by Josina Anderson via Twitter.
Adam Schefter has reported the deal amount and length on Twitter. It is a 4-year deal worth $72 million. $36 million is fully guaranteed. This was all confirmed by Shaquil’s agent Drew Rosenhaus.
Shaq Barrett comes off a solid 2020 campaign and was a vital player in the Buccaneers Super Bowl run. He had 8 sacks, 57 combined tackles, 43 solo tackles, and 11 tackles for loss. Although, he did had a better year in 2019 with a whopping 19.5 sacks. But, there was more talent on the the 2020 Bucs defense.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are looking to run in back in 2021. The Buccaneers are trying to go for the rare back-to-back Super Bowl wins with their aging QB Tom Brady. The defense played outstanding in the Super Bowl against a high-powered offense like the Kansas City Chiefs. They limited Patrick Mahomes the best they could and it showed.
This deal may limit the Tampa Bay Buccaneers a bit seeing how Barrett is now getting 18 million a year. That is still to be seen though. Some free agents may sign with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for less just for a shot at a Super Bowl run. Shaq Barrett is back, which could mean the Buccaneers could be back for another Super Bowl.
