Joel Embiid doesn’t take criticism lightly
Joel Embiid is extra motivated whenever he gets to face up against the best center’s the league has to offer. Last night the front-runner for the MVP award completely outplayed the two-time defensive player of the year, Rudy Gobert. The Philadelphia 76ers versus the Utah Jazz was one of the most anticipated games headed into All-Star break with both teams leading their respective conferences. Embiid also didn’t shy away from what the critics had to say before his dominating performance.
Embiid isn’t ducking any matchup and has the track record to prove it. When Joel Embiid thinks he is better than his opponent and is dominating them, he lets us know about it, for example, Myles Turner.

“When you go against those types of guys, he’s a great player, he does a lot for his team that doesn’t show up in the stat sheet, but when you go against those guys, it brings something else in my game. I want to dominate on the offensive end, but mainly the defensive end. That’s the goal I set for myself at the beginning of the year.”

He went out and did exactly that dominating both sides of the court scoring 40 points to go along with 19 rebounds, three assists, two blocks, and a steal. Joel Embiid is obviously on a different level this season than the rest of the centers he matches up against. After scoring a career-high 50 points versus the Chicago Bulls last week. Then following it up with this game versus Rudy Gobert and the Jazz where he hit one of the most clutch shots of his career against one of the best teams in the league. It’s proving to be hard to argue against the fact that Embiid is the current MVP as of right now. These games are proving that Joel Embiid is extra motivated whenever he gets a chance to prove he is the best.
He is in a class of his own. Already having five games of 40 point,10 rebound games himself compared to the rest of the league with four total. If he can continue this play throughout the rest of the season and the 76ers maintain the number one seed it’s no way the MVP trophy doesn’t end up in Embiids hands.
