Carlos Dunlap, a defensive end for the Cincinnati Bengals, has taken to Twitter to express his frustration with the organization due to a lack of playing time. Dunlap has put his home up for sale and publicized it via the popular social media app, following the Bengals loss to the Cleveland Browns.
Carlos Dunlap is currently second all-time in sacks for the Cincinnati Bengals at 82.5; he is just one sack away from a first-place tie. The Bengals drafted Dunlap in the second round of the 2010 NFL Draft out of the University of Florida. The former Gator has been named to the Pro Bowl twice, in 2015, and then again in 2016.
Dunlap, 31, is under contract with the Bengals through the 2021 season, with a $10.9 million cap hit this year and a $13.5 million cap hit in 2021. Cutting Dunlap is undoubtedly an option for the Bengals, as cutting him now would incur $4.5 million in dead cap, and cutting him in 2021 would result in only $2.25 million in dead cap. Money is not an issue when it comes to trading or cutting Carlos Dunlap; Cincinnati’s front office’s willingness is.
Cincinnati currently sits at 1-4-1 in the AFC North. In all but one of their losses, the Bengals have kept the games close right up until the end. The outlier was a 27-3 loss to the Baltimore Ravens . The Bengals are looking to the future; Carlos Dunlap doesn’t want to be apart of it.
