Former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant will reportedly sign with the Baltimore Ravens practice squad if his workout goes well, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
It has been a long path back to the NFL for Bryant after the Dallas Cowboys cut him in 2018. Since then, he signed with the New Orleans Saints, only to tear his achilles in the first practice.
Now, the former All-Pro wide receiver is on his way to joining the Baltimore Ravens roster as they fight for first in the AFC North. He had previously worked out with the Baltimore Ravens in August.
The Bryant news comes on the heels of a Ravens trade with the Minnesota Vikings for Yannick Ngakoue.
Dallas selected Bryant 24th overall in the first round of the 2010 NFL Draft. Since then, the Oklahoma State product was Pro Bowler in 2013, 2014, and 2016. Bryant also led the league in receiving touchdowns in 2014, and he earned first-team All-Pro honors that year.
During his time with the Cowboys, Bryant had 531 receptions, 7,459 receiving yards, and 73 receiving touchdowns. He ranks third all-time in receptions, fifth in receiving yards, and first in receiving touchdowns in franchise history. One of the all-time greats for the Dallas Cowboys in terms of statistics, only Jason Witten and Michael Irvin have more career receptions for Dallas.
If Dez Bryant eventually makes his way from the practice squad to the Ravens roster, he would join the Baltimore wide receiver’s Marquise “Hollywood” Brown, Willie Snead IV, and Miles Boykin. Adding weapons for the 2019 NFL MVP Lamar Jackson seems to be a priority for the Baltimore Ravens as they look to be playoff and Super Bowl contenders.
