The Warriors Need To Trade For Andre Drummond

The Golden State Warriors tanked their way into the No. 2 pick in this year’s NBA draft. Golden State is set with Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green to contend next year, and as much as a top prospect could help, they could receive much more help through veterans and other assets in a trade. The Warriors are predicted to take James Wiseman, a center from Memphis. Yet trading for a big man with some experience like Andre Drummond would be much better.

Why the Warriors Think Of Trading

With the No. 2 pick, the Warriors have numerous options as it has value in a trade. The one trade I believe the Warriors must make is the No. 2 pick and Andrew Wiggins to the Cleveland Cavaliers for the No. 5 pick and Andre Drummond. This will help both teams significantly in both the short and long run.

There is virtually no reason for the Warriors to draft Wiseman, as he is a slightly better basket to basket center than Marquese Chriss. The aforementioned trade would have the Warriors receive the best possible rim and run center in the NBA. With 4.4 offensive rebounds, Drummond was the league leader and with so many shooters around him, that number would increase. Andre Drummond would be a 10-15 point scorer along with his 15 boards a game. With the No. 5 pick, the Warriors could take an athletic wing-like Isaac Okoro, while getting rid of Wiggins’s contract.

Why Cleveland Accepts The Trade

The Cavs acquire former draft pick, Wiggins while getting the No. 2 pick. With the second selection, Cleveland can look at Deni Avdija or Wiseman. This trade would help out both teams by giving the Cavaliers young pieces to build around while the Warriors get the best rebounding center in the league along with a young piece.

Outlook for everyone the Warriors will make a run along with both LA teams for the Western Conference. With a center that can outrebound everyone else while still getting easy layups and dunks. While the Cavs will be in rebuild mode for another couple of years, they could easily contend in four years with some excellent development.
