Fantasy Football: Steelers Add Jonnu Smith

A wild trade went down in the NFL, but one of the low-key details of the deal included Jonnu Smith being sent from Miami to Pittsburgh. You know the drill. No reason to cheese the intro here. Let’s talk about all of the fantasy football angles of Smith landing with the Steelers!

The Steelers angle of this is pretty easy. DK Metcalf remains unchanged. He is the WR1 in this offense. It’s the rest of the pieces that get a trickle-down effect.

A: Cancel the Darnell Washington breakout party. It could still happen, but it’s sure as hell not happening now in the year of our lord 2025 with Pittsburgh. Washington is now going to be the third tight end to block in this offense now.

B: Pat Freiermuth takes a massive hit. I understand that Jonnu won’t be used like a typical tight end, but it doesn’t change the fact that his target share is going to get zapped. Roman Wilson also goes from an interesting flyer to a zero.

C: Don’t underestimate the Arthur Smith factor. He loves the player, and he’s going to be involved. This tweet below probably gives you a great perspective at what we’re looking at here.

Fantasy Football: DK Metcalf Traded To Pittsburgh

The Dolphins part of this is what remains murky. Jaylen Waddle sure will get more looks. So will Malik Washington out of the slot. The only thing we don’t know yet is if Miami will trade for another tight end. Maybe it’s someone like a Michael Mayer? If that happens, we’ll do another follow-up post to get you the most informed.
