It looks like Aaron Rodgers continues to play puppet master in Pittsburgh. The Steelers, for whatever reason, are going all in on Rodgers’ lone season that he plans on playing for. Doesn’t make a lick of sense, but that’s not something this organization has had since Ben Roethlisberger left years ago. Pittsburgh is pushing more chips in the middle of the table and have struck a deal with the Dolphins to bring in Jalen Ramsey.
Ramsey actually broke his own news that he was traded to the Steelers. Not super surprising considering he actually got a raise with this trade, so he was obviously informed on what was going on behind the scenes.
Ramsey, 30, now joins a cornerback room that includes Joey Porter Jr., Darius Slay, and Beanie Bishop. Porter and Ramsey will likely start with Bishop taking on the top slot role.
Tyreek Hill pushed to keep Ramsey in Miami… but his efforts… whatever they were, obviously, failed.
Full details of the trade have emerged. It’s a straight-up player swap. Former Alabama product Minkah Fitzpatrick is heading back to the team that originally drafted him. The ball-hawking safety heads back to Miami as part of this trade.
Have to give Miami’s general manager Chris Grier credit. The Dolphins had basically no leverage in these Ramsey talks, and they find a way to snag Fitzpatrick instead. Absolutely a heist on Miami’s part to get back a player like this when everybody knew they were moving on from Ramsey.
UPDATE: This is the full details of the deal…
