Dear, Leafs fans. You will take Nic Roy and like it. Mitch Marner is coming to Vegas, and it’s officially official.
Here are the key details you need to know:
The news was first reported by Darren Dreger, but Bob McKenzie was the first to report it’s a one for one swap. Roy to Toronto (only because they’re the Maple Karen’s threatening tampering charges) and Marner to Vegas.
A: Marner signs an eight-year ticket that will carry an AAV of $12 million.
B: For cashing in on the eighth-year, Toronto will acquire Nic Roy. Vegas already replace Roy in the 4th line center role in the trade they made with Nashville.
C: All of this is possible because of Alex Pietrangelo. Thank you for your services, Petro. If this is the end, thank you for everything. We’re still holding out hope we see you for game one of the playoffs, but TBD on that.
D: All of this actually happened because Jonathan Marchessault went delulu.
Always advance, never retreat. Kelly McCrimmon deserves his flowers for this one because he’s been cooking up this for a long time. Marner is now paired with Jack Eichel? Mark Stone now gets to hide on the third line? The Saad, Hertl, Dorofeyev line remains intact? What a team. What an organization. We’re so spoiled by this team.
You know who also deserves their flowers? Trey. Because I called this MONTHS ago. The Sun! The vitality of a NEW day!
