Buster Posey Showed Great Forward-Thinking Ability Trading For Rafael Devers

The Giants have a Willy Adames problem. That’s not hindsight bias. It’s anyone with a brain knew it was coming, sort of thing. Buster Posey made a mistake, and knows it, but can’t admit it. The positive is that he rebounded and deserves all the flowers in the world for having great forward-thinking ability. The Rafael Devers trade is a win in more ways than one for San Francisco.

With that said, there are always unforeseen consequences and rewards to any trade. The Red Sox are finding that out the hard way, and the turncoats are mounting.

With the Giants… Posey may have saved the franchise in more ways than one. If nothing else, Posey took an immense amount of pressure off Adames.

Here’s the truth…

• Adames isn’t the guy anymore.
• Devers draws heat and responsibility.
• SF now has a middle infield hole and a real power bat solution.
• They let the Red Sox take the heat for the upcoming collapse.

Bagdonas may be onto something when he wrote this. Adames is probably the real winner of this trade because far fewer people are noticing just how bad he is. Adames, 29, has a .645 OPS and 83 OPS+ with 95 strikeouts in 85 games thus far this season. And guess what… now everyone wants to talk about Devers instead.

Great work by Posey. He shifted the narrative, and it’s working.
