Nerds Will Never Understand Sam Bennett

The Florida Panthers are back-to-back Stanley Cup champions. This team deserves all of their flowers, and it really starts with the job that Bill Zito has done. His team has a clear and distinct identity. They’re mean, nasty, and incredibly difficult to play against. Guys like Sam Bennett fit that culture like a hand in glove. It was only fitting that Bennett won the Conn Smythe trophy.

Except that’s not the way nerds see the world. If it doesn’t fit in their chart, they’re brain malfunctions.

Sorry, not sorry, but how damn ignorant do you have to be to take a stand against how much money a guy like Bennett should earn when his value is incredibly easy to see.

is bennett going to perform just as well if he's not part of a team that gets the most out of everyone? is he going to replicate this career postseason consistently throughout his 30s? can he scale his reg. season results up to a top line role or one where he's The Guy?

Nerds ^. They have their place, but their place doesn’t deserve any credence or real attention. The charts are fun to look at, but can you imagine putting one of these lunatics in charge of an actual franchise?

We’ve seen how this goes. It’s called what’s happening with the Red Sox, and that harsh reality is going to hit the Carolina Hurricanes hard soon. Hiring nerds like this is a non-starter, and frankly, giving any one of these lunatics power is a suicide mission.

This isn’t a Sam Bennett issue. This is a nerd issue, and they’re going to keep making the same mistakes over and over again. They have no ability to understand the mental competitive stamina it takes to be at for a guy like Bennett to dominate the way he did in order to win the Conn Smythe.

The same guy who trash-talked Bennett is the same one who threw a fit when Tom Wilson got his money.

Maybe, just maybe, nerds will never understand the type of place mentally you need to be in order to play like Sam Bennett or Tom Wilson does. And if you’re actually smart… You understand that those types of players are the ones who help you win the Stanley Cup. Except these nerds aren’t smart. They’re unaccountable robots and nothing more.

Sam Bennett deserves every penny in free agency, and if rival teams like the Sharks with money to burn were smart, they would offer him ten sheets right now to play for their team.
