It finally happened. Aaron Rodgers is officially going to be suiting up for the Pittsburgh Steelers during the 2025-26 NFL Season. We all knew this was coming with Rodgers doing offseason workouts with DK Metcalf all Summer. We just didn’t know the exact day it would all come together and today is that day.
Ian Rapoport and the rest of the NFL Network crew was the first to report the news:
Rodgers, 41, signs with Pittsburgh 70 days after visiting them for the first time. He plans to be in Pittsburgh well in advance of mandatory minicamp, which starts next week. The official contract details aren’t out yet, but Rodgers was previously on record for saying he would take $10 million, so my guess is the number will come in at around that figure on a one year deal.
The Steelers quarterback room is now set. Rodgers is going to be the starter with Mason Rudolph as the backup. Will Howard was taken in the 6th round to now fill the shoes as the developmental guy. Regardless of what you think of Rodgers, this room is far less embarrassing with him at the top of the depth chart now.
Want to hear something even more interesting? Guess who the Steelers play in Week 1? Oh, yes, it’s the New York Jets. It’s not just Rodgers going against his old team. It’s also Justin Fields looking for the revenge factor too. Get your popcorn ready.
