Sam Reinhart Heaps Praise On Head Coach Paul Maurice

Sam Reinhart had nothing but praise for Panthers head coach Paul Maurice, calling him the best motivator he’s ever played for—and it’s not hard to see why. Under Maurice’s leadership, Florida has become one of the most energized, dialed-in teams in the NHL, with their third straight Stanley Cup Final beginning tonight. Furthermore, Reinhart’s dominance in recent years is just one example of how the message is clearly landing.

Since getting traded from Buffalo to Florida in 2021, Reinhart has transformed himself into one of the best players in hockey. His 57 goals last season were second in the NHL only to Auston Matthews. He has 164 goals and 324 points in 321 regular season games as a Panther. In three fewer seasons, he has more points with Florida than he ever did with the Sabres. His game has reached new heights under Maurice, and he was not afraid to praise the former Jets’ bench boss:

“He’s incredible. He’s the best motivator that I’ve ever played for,” Reinhart said. “His pregame speeches and just knowing when to fire us up, when to calm us down. His game plans, there’s a reason why he’s a world-class coach.

“He’s certainly the best coach I’ve ever had, and he’s a big reason why our team’s had so much success,” he continued.

“I probably can’t repeat some of the speeches that he gives us, and he saves the really good ones for when the cameras aren’t around,” he said.

Reinhart and the Florida Panthers are poised to defend their title against the Edmonton Oilers starting tonight. The Cats clearly enter the series with a lot of confidence and togetherness based on Reinhart’s comments. That confidence was on full display during their come-from-behind Game Five win over the Carolina Hurricanes last week.
