When the Ravens drafted Tyler Loop during the 6th round of the 2025 NFL Draft, it sure felt like the end for Justin Tucker in Baltimore. That’s exactly what’s happened in the handful of days that have transpired since the draft has concluded.
The Ravens have released a press release stating the team is releasing Tucker for “football decisions”.
“Sometimes football decisions are incredibly difficult, and this is one of those instances,” DeCosta said in a statement.
“Considering our current roster, we have made the tough decision to release Justin Tucker. Justin created many significant and unforgettable moments in Ravens history. His reliability, focus, drive, resilience and extraordinary talent made him one of the league’s best kickers for over a decade. We are grateful for Justin’s many contributions while playing for the Ravens. We sincerely wish him and his family the very best in this next chapter of their lives.”
Don’t insult our intelligence, Eric. We all know why Tucker is being released. This wasn’t a football decision. This was a Deshaun Watson decision. Let’s be clear about that.
By the way, Loop isn’t the only new kicker in Baltimore. The club has also signed University of Wyoming kicker John Hoyland as an undrafted free agent as well. It would appear those two guys will compete for the job.
Who knows what will transpire with Tucker? Based on how these allegations go, it may be the last we see of him. That part, however, obviously, remains to be seen.
