We’re talking shop on a unicorn in this one. That’s right, JJ Pegues is a damn unicorn and we’re about to talk about why. Without further ado, let’s go over his 2025 NFL Draft profile!
NFL Draft Stock Report: Week 6, Week 7, East-West (1), (2), (3), (4), Game
Pegues, 23, was a four star recruit coming out of high school, hailing from Oxford, Mississippi. The redshirt senior checks in at 6-foot-2, 309, and was ranked as the 190th overall player, 7th overall athlete, and third ranked player in the state. After two years at Auburn, Pegues finished off his final three years with Ole Miss.
During his Ole Miss career, Pegues has been pretty consistent. He registered at least three sacks in each of the last three seasons. He also nothced 13.5 TFLs last year and seven PBUs over the last three years. Really good at just being a pest and finding a way to impact the ball.
The most intriguing part about Pegues is that he’s a bit of a unicorn. He was legit taking fullback snaps this past year. We’re talking about a defensive lineman who had 21 carries and scored seven times in 2024. This is far from a gimmick and can actually be used on offense. He actually looked pretty good during the Combine doing that type of stuff. 18 of his 21 attempts resulted in a first down or touchdown.
Speaking of the pre-draft process, Pegues looked really good at the Combine. It wasn’t crazy in the speed department. It was more so just being nimble and bendy while never getting stuck in the mud. Also, his East-West performance speaks for itself. He was a huge standout during the week of practices and turned into a full blown monster during the game portion.
For a big dude, Pegues can line up all over the place and changes direction on a dime. Has nice handwork with proven production in the SEC. All I know is this dude can play.
I’m a huge fan of Pegues, and I love the shot here on this player in the middle rounds. Someone who can be a plus depth piece for any defensive line.
