UFC Vegas 105 is not a sensational fight card, but it has a few respectable betting opportunities. Here are three of the best bets you can make on the fight card.
*All odds are taken from DraftKings and are accurate as of Thursday, April 3, at 8:00 p.m. EST. *
At UFC Vegas 105, Changho Lee will fight Cortavious Romious. The fight is closely lined as Lee sits as a -135 favorite while Romious is a +114 underdog. I am siding with the favorite.
I understand why this is a closely lined fight. In striking exchanges, Romious is dangerous and Lee does not have great defense. Although, the striking exchanges in this fight will be minimal. I expect Lee to constantly initiate clinch and grappling exchanges. Meanwhile, Romious has shown that he is willing to engage in those exchanges.
The one massive factor that makes Lee the favorite is his cardio. If he pushes the pace, he should pull ahead in the late rounds. This can be accomplished with a ton of grappling exchanges and knees from the clinch.
If Romious wins this fight, he will need to have a disciplined performance where he limits his mistakes. He has never shown that ability, however. I expect this fight to get sloppy quickly. That massively favors Lee. At -135, Lee is one of my favorite bets for UFC Vegas 105.
UFC Vegas 105 features a middleweight bout between Gerald Meerschaert and Brad Tavares. The bout is lined with Tavares as a -198 favorite while Meerschaert is a +164 underdog. The play on this fight is a prop bet, however. I like the fight not to go the distance at +115.
Meerschaert and Tavares both have paths to find a finish in this fight. On the Meerschaert side, he has strong submission upside and is an expert in pushing the pace. At a distance, he will blast kicks to the body to wear on his opponent’s gas tank. This will help him get the fight to the ground, where he can hunt for submissions. On the other side of the equation, Tavares is a strong striker and Meerschaert has defensive liabilities. In distance striking exchanges, he should be able to hit Meerschaert. That opens the door to finding a victory.
The best part about this bet is that someone will be in danger at all times. If they are striking, Meerschaert is in danger. If they grappling, Tavares can be submitted. In a three round fight, that creates a lot of chances for these fighters to get a stoppage. At +115, it is a solid bet for UFC Vegas 105.
The final bet for UFC Vegas 105 is for Luis Gurule and Ode Osbourne not to go the distance. That prop bet is lined at -130. That is a much more bettable line than the moneyline that has Gurule priced at -265 while Osbourne sits at +215.
This fight is pretty simple. In the early rounds, Osbourne is a serious knockout threat. He is super athletic, quick, and has power. This makes him a serious knockout threat. If he does not land that shot, he will gas out. This opens the door for Gurule to find a finish in the second and third rounds.
It does not matter who wins this fight. Both fighters have clear paths to victory purely based on the cardio dynamic at play. That makes it a solid bet for UFC Vegas 105.
