Mourinho Grabs Rival Coach’s Nose After Cup Defeat

There truly is only one Jose Mourinho.

Following a frustrating 2-1 defeat in the Turkish Cup to nemesis Galatasaray on Wednesday, the Fenerbahce manager did what any reasonable manager would do. He grabbed Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk‘s nose, of course!

The Turkish Cup quarterfinal matchup between the two rivals was a closely fought 2-1 affair, where a brace from Galatasaray star striker Victor Osimhen proved to be the difference. As one would expect with two fierce rivals, tempers flared late, and the police were even called to restore order on the field in the later moments of the game.

What one would not expect, however, is for assault-to-the-nose to occur.

“He squeezed my nose from behind while I was going on,” Galatasaray manager Buruk said following the match. “There was a slight scratch. Of course, it’s not a very nice and stylish thing. I won’t exaggerate about it, but it’s not a very stylish thing.”

Buruk was not alone in discussing Mourinho’s nose grab after the quarterfinal matchup. Galatasaray vice-president Metin Ozturk voiced his disgust with Mourinho’s actions after the game as well.

“The latest incident is not only an attack on Galatasaray’s coach but also on Turkish football. This is Mourinho, I don’t know where he gets this courage,” he said. “Where in the world can he do this? Where does he think Turkey is?”

The best thing to come from the incident, however, was the trolling done by the Galatasaray social media team.

For those of you who don’t speak Turkish, the first post says: “YOU SHOULD NOT ATTACK, YOU SHOULD DIGEST!” The second post shows a cartoonish version of Mourinho and says: “Galatasaray drives you crazy.”

Love him or hate him, there truly is only one Jose Mourinho. The man never shies away from controversy, and we here at Vendetta love him for that.
