The last time that LeBron James launched a podcast talking about the intricacies of basketball, JJ Redick elevated into his first-ever real head coaching gig.
Well, the Mind The Game podcast is officially back! This time, James will co-host with Hall of Fame point guard and former Brooklyn Nets head coach Steve Nash, who’s one of the smartest players of his era, they announced Wednesday!
Here is a one-minute long promo of the show, which will be featured on Youtube, Amazon Prime Video and everywhere podcasts can be found:
I thought James’ show with Redick last year was a resounding success. Today’s era of basketball commentary is way-too-much narratives talk and focusing on the BS surrounding the sport–not the actual sports itself.
The Mind The Game podcast was specifically introduced to talk about the X’s and O’s and the nuances of basketball, which I’m a feen for. It’s the best type of talk–not the constant drama that clouds this league.
It’s not for everyone, sure, but it’s not supposed to be for everyone. Most NBA fans aren’t actually fans of the basketball itself; this is an avenue for that, and it’s going to feature two phenomenal basketball minds in James and Nash.
The show also did a great job detailing what they were talking about and breaking it down for the viewer at home, which I love. If you like the game within the game of basketball, this show is must must-watch. I think it will take a little time for Nash, a quiet personality, to get used to it–but I think this will be an environment and atmosphere that he will be comfortable with.
