The Los Angeles Rams somehow keep finding ways to extend players despite their salary cap situation. Cooper Kupp has signed a three-year contract extension worth up to $48 million, per Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo. The deal will keep Kupp with the Los Angeles Rams until the 2023 season.

The Los Angeles Rams seem to have unlimited cap space with all of the contract extensions they have been giving out recently. Earlier in the week, they signed cornerback Jalen Ramsey to a massive contract extension and will finish it off by giving Cooper Kupp a new contract. Cooper Kupp has been Jared Goff’s favorite target in recent years. In 2019 Jared Goff targeted Cooper Kupp 134 times, resulting in 94 catches for 1161 yards and ten touchdowns.

The Los Angeles Rams drafted Cooper Kupp in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft. As a rookie, Kupp made an immediate impact as he caught 62 passes off of 94 targets. He racked up 869 yards and five receiving touchdowns in 15 regular-season games. In his second year, he had 40 catches on 55 targets for 566 yards and six touchdowns in eight games before he tore his ACL and missed the remainder of the season and the Rams’ eventual Super Bowl loss to the New England Patriots.

The Los Angeles Rams had the seventh-best offense in terms of yards in 2019 and the 11th best offense for points. Cooper Kupp provides a security blanket over the middle for quarterback Jared Goff. The Cooper Kupp contract gives the wide receiver a nice payday and keeps him in Los Angeles for the foreseeable future. Jared Goff keeps one of his favorite targets, and the Rams reload for the 2020 season and the fight for first in a loaded division. Now, time for the Cowboys.
