Is Chris Drury Insane Enough To Trade Adam Fox?

Chris Drury is a man who is unhinged. I just think the other general managers in the NHL know it and should act accordingly. That should include calling every other day or so about the availability of Adam Fox.

I’m not sure I’ve ever quite seen what the Rangers are going through. Loose lips sink ships. The moment Drury announced to the world that he was cool shaking this up with this roster… the entire team tanked.

He wasn’t bluffing either. Jacob Trouba got traded. Ditto for Kaapo Kakko. The only problem is I’m not sure what he accomplished because the team has gone into a tailspin since. I’d also argue the team has gotten worse with those departures and it shows.

Right now, New York has 42 points in 42 games played. That’s good enough for 7th place in the metro but only four points out of a playoff spot. The Eastern Conference is all mush right now but if we get closer to the deadline and Drury remains in charge, how reckless will the Rangers become?

I won’t lie, I still think about this clip.

I just can’t believe it. How isn’t Adam Fox untouchable?

Fox, 26, is one of the best defensemen in the sport in the middle of his prime. His underlying metrics are off the charts. He’s under contract through the 2028-29 NHL Season at a more than reasonable $9.5 million AAV number. Oh, and he essentially forced his way to New York.

You’re going to trade that guy? You’re going to even consider trading that guy? How exactly does that improve your team?

Look, it sounds like it’s more of a you have to blow us away thing to land Fox but teams sure as hell should be trying. Maybe trying every half hour before the Rangers realize Drury is unhinged and just might do anything at this point.

The most likely scenario seems like Chris Kreider is the next to go. Maybe Zibanejad too. I just don’t think you can rule anything out with the Rangers right now. Not as long as Drury remains in charge.
