A report surfaced that the reason why the Rangers moved Jacob Trouba is so they could lure Brady Tkachuk to New York. While the report seems incredibly delusional on the Rangers’ part, Senators owner Michael Andlauer isn’t very happy about it.
Andlauer claims the Rangers are tampering with their captain. Something the league office will likely take very seriously.
“If indeed (Brooks is) being fed false information, or people are giving this information from another NHL organization, I don’t know – we just had a big memo about tampering from the NHL. I might consider that soft tampering,” Andlauer told LeBrun.
“I cannot just sit and watch someone try and disrupt our organization using blatant misinformation without pushing back,” he told the Ottawa Citizen’s Bruce Garrioch.
“When I see our captain, in the one year I’ve been (Senators owner), there’s been three separate occasions where there’s been fires we had to put out,” Andlauer told LeBrun. “I can tell you 100% there’s never actually been an ounce of discussion about Brady Tkachuk being anything other than an Ottawa Senator.”
I don’t hate this play by Andlauer. Tkachuk is under contract under contract through the 2027-28 season, with an annual cap hit of $8.205 million. At some point, this is on the Rangers for being noisy about everything they do. The Trouba nonsense was public. Chris Kreider being on the block was public. Ditto Zibanejad. Chris Drury is creating a lot of noise. It’s not Andlauer’s fault for pouring cold water on it. Especially for his captain who is under contract for multiple seasons.
The Rangers quickly refuted the comments by the Sens owner: “This is an irresponsible accusation, and we defer to the commissioner’s office”… as first reported by Daily Faceoff’s Frank Seravalli.
