Bill Armstrong Provides Injury Timeline For Sean Durzi

Utah Hockey Club has been off to a hot start in year one of existence. UHC started the 2024-25 NHL Season winning three of their first four games but will have to sustain their winning ways without Sean Durzi for a prolonged period of time. General manager Bill Armstrong provided an injury update on the talented puck-moving defenseman and it’s not exactly encouraging news.

“It doesn’t look like (Durzi’s) going to be back anytime soon,” general manager Bill Armstrong said Tuesday, according to KSL Sports’ Cole Bagley. “We’re going to have more young guys jump in and see what we can do here.”

“You’re never going to replace (Durzi), but we’re going to have someone go in there and try,” Armstrong added. He mentioned Robert Bortuzzo, Patrik Koch, and Maksymilian Szuber as options who could step into the lineup.

Durzi, 25, got hurt in the most recent game against New Jersey. He’s out with an upper body injury but was seen in a sling so it appears to be some sort of shoulder injury. The NHL hides injuries so it’s hard to know for sure what’s really going on. Based on Armstrong’s comments, this sounds like more of a month-to-month thing rather than week-to-week. Hopefully, Durzi can return for the stretch run if Utah is playoff-bound.

Through four games this season, Durzi had two points. That’s coming off a 46-point season last year. He’s a really talented player with a bit of a nasty edge to him as well. For as much as this injury sucks, it can’t be as bad as how Arizona Coyotes fans are feeling. The team made a smart move to pick up Durzi and Coyotes fans don’t even get to celebrate this team. They may as well be Vegas fans at this point based on location…
