2024 Fantasy Football Waiver Wire: Week 4

The 2024 NFL season is in full swing with three weeks in the books. That sample size gives us a good amount of information on NFL offenses and specific players. In turn, we can make strong waiver wire decisions to help improve your fantasy football rosters.

The waiver wire has been hot thus far into the season. Unfortunately, the Week 4 waiver wire is slightly on the light side. That is largely because some top options have already been discussed in waiver wire posts. Before we get into this week’s list of waiver wire targets, check to see if the following players are available in your league.

Week 2 targets: Jordan Mason, Bucky Irving, Isaiah Likely, Justin Fields, Tank Bigsby

Week 3 targets: Braelon Allen, Jauan Jennings, Jalen Tolbert, Carson Steele

Andrei Iosivas– 7.1%

The top waiver wire option heading into Week 4 of the NFL Season is Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Andre Iosivas.

The Bengals have had their fair share of early season struggles through the first three weeks of the season, but it should not sway fantasy football managers away from the team’s fantasy options.

I do not love the idea of adding a team’s wide receiver three. That is especially true when the other receiving options are healthy. That said, Iosivas is an exception.

Iosivas has had consecutive productive fantasy outings. The first of the pair was solely because he found the endzone twice; however, his more recent outing was much more replicable. Iosivas finished with seven targets for five catches, 52 yards, and a touchdown.

I’ll gladly roster Iosivas. The Bengals are going to consistently throw the ball. Despite being behind Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins in the pecking order, Iosivas should get targets. It helps that the Bengals do not have elite tight ends or running backs that eat up a ton of targets. That gives Iosivas the chance to become the No. 3 option in a highly productive passing offense.

Rico Dowdle– 37.3%

The top waiver wire addition at the running back position is Dallas Cowboys running back Rico Dowdle. A waiver wire claim on Dowdle must be considered as he emerges as the Cowboys’ top running back.

Dowdle is coming off a game where he finished with eight carries for 32 yards while adding three catches for 24 yards. This is not an impressive showing; however, what’s important is that he was the Cowboys’ lead back. Ezekiel Elliott finished the game with three carries for six yards while Deuce Vaughn had two carries for five yards.

The Cowboys played from behind for the majority of the game. This seriously caps the backfield’s ability to get fantasy points. I doubt that will be a weekly occurrence. If Dowdle continues to get the majority of the carries, he will get points. That is what happens when you get a decent amount of carries in a quality offense.

Dowdle is not a world-beater, but he is worth a waiver wire claim considering the amount of touches he will be getting in a quality offense.

Emanuel Wilson– 2%

Emanuel Wilson is the other fantasy football waiver wire target at the running back position. Wilson has established himself as the Packers’ backup and is a strong handcuff option.

In week 4, Wilson had 12 carries for 50 yards. In the air, he added two catches for 35 yards and a touchdown.

It is unlikely Wilson will continue to produce at this level. This amount of touches was largely a result of a commanding win over the Titans. Nonetheless, he is a strong handcuff option. If Josh Jacobs were to go down, Wilson would be the lead back in a run-heavy offense.

I do not view Wilson as a high-end handcuff. I prefer other options like Zach Charbonnet, Bucky Irving, Braelon Allen, and Tank Bigsby, among others. Still, Wilson should see a few touches weekly while being a legit option if Jacobs were to miss time. That makes him a strong fantasy football waiver-wire addition if you are looking you a handcuff running back.

Jalen Nailor– 4%

Minnesota Viking wide receiver Josh Nailor should be strongly considered as fantasy football managers place waiver wire claims.

Nailor’s 2024 success has largely been because of touchdowns. That is okay. At this point, the Vikings look like a team that will be scoring touchdowns. In addition, they have a great offensive-minded head coach Kevin O’Connell who will use his scheme to get players open.

For the time being, Nailor is a solid streaming option. In the future, the return of Jordan Addison and T.J. Hockenson will cap his long-term value. This is not a player who will help you win a championship. Instead, he is a player who can help you steal a win or two in the coming weeks. That may be the difference in making or missing playoffs.

I would not advise getting over-aggressive to place a waiver wire claim on Nailor. Rather, understand that he is a sneaky option if you need wide receiver help.

Jahan Dotson– 8.4%

Philadephia Eagles wide receiver Jahan Dotson is the final fantasy football waiver wire target heading into Week 4. Dotson is a streaming option for fantasy managers who need help in their upcoming matchup.

The Eagles wide receiver room is beat up. A.J. Brown is dealing with a hamstring injury and DeVonta Smith is in concussion protocol. The team even placed Britain Covey on injured reserve. The situation is so bad the Eagles signed John Ross. That makes the current receiver room Dotson, Parris Campbell, Johnny Wilson, and Ross. I’ll bet on Dotson being the top option out of that group.

This is not a long-term fantasy option. The Eagles have a bye in Week 5. The expectation should be that Brown and Smith will be back in Week 6. Still, Dotson should get targets in Week 4. If he can find success, he could carve out a role as the team’s wide receiver three.

I would prioritize the aforementioned players over Dotson. That does not mean he cannot be a waiver wire option in a shallow week, however.
