The Dolphins Almost Drafted Brian Thomas Jr.?

The Dolphins continue to make the same mistake over and over again while wondering why they keep coming up short. Miami still hasn’t prioritized the offensive line and continues to pour way too many resources into wide receivers when they already have Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle on the roster. It turns out the Dolphins almost took Brian Thomas Jr. on draft day.

Miami claimed Grant DuBose on waivers and head coach Mike McDaniel said “I’m glad that we added some f—ing height” to the wide receiver room. That then sparked McDaniel revealing the former LSU wide receiver Thomas Jr. was almost the pick on draft day.

“Super talented player that has a unique combination of being able to be a down the field third-level receiver that can track and make plays down the field, while also having a route running skill set to do your underneath and intermediate routes,” McDaniel said.

“You see a very talented individual that can take his game as far as he wants to take it. I think it’s adding to the plethora of LSU Tigers out there in the league. He’s a very talented individual that we will be well aware of when he’s out there on the field. It won’t be a surprise, because we did a lot of work on him coming out.”

If Chop Robinson was off the board at pick 21, Miami would have gone with Brian Thomas Jr. Not that Thomas is a bad player but the ignorance to continue to just flat out ignore improving the offensive line remains insane.
