The Boston Bruins finally found their center. Elias Lindholm was signed to a massive seven year contract. Let’s talk about all the angles in terms of fantasy hockey!
It was a down year for Lindholm a season ago. The 44 points he posted last season was his lowest mark since 2017-18. However, I think there are so many reasons to be optimistic here. Mostly because we’ve seen Lindholm post mega numbers when Matthew Tkachuk and Johnny Gaudreau previously flanked him.
Now Lindholm heads to Boston and his likely linemates are Brad Marchand and David Pastrnak. That’s while controlling top line duties in Boston on a team that also has Charlie McAvoy. The 82 points Lindholm had three years ago now seem like an attainable benchmark. Pastrnak alone is going to pocket his typical 40 goals. Someone has to be on the other end of those assists.
Charlie Coyle had a career 60 points in that same role last year. Lindholm is a much better offensive player than Coyle. Doesn’t 70 points feel more than doable?
Coyle will likely slot in as the number two center now with Pavel Zacha being moved to the wing. Youngster Mathew Poitras is now a name to watch if he can take a leap.
Lindholm is an easy pick inside the top 100 selections for fantasy. I love the move to Boston as Lindholm fills the number one need this team needed. He’s finally back in a top line role with superstar wingers. What’s not to like?
