Four-star Quarterback Antwann Hill out of Warner Robins, Georgia announced his commitment to play for the Memphis Tigers yesterday. This is a massive signing for Ryan Silverfield, as Memphis has become a very solid team over the last four years, including a 10-3 season a year ago, culminating in a Liberty Bowl win over Iowa State. Here’s what Hill had to say about Memphis, Silverfield, and why he ultimately landed on the Tigers.

“I’m heading to Memphis because of the opportunity to get on the field earlier is just a big reason for me,” Hill told 247Sports’ Tom Loy.
“The relationships with [head] coach (Ryan) Silverfield and [offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach] (Tim) Ramsey, from the time they came down and met me to now, it’s just been an incredible recruiting process with them. They really did a great job and will continue to do so.”
Memphis had hosted Antwann Hill on an official visit back on June 7th, and Hill came away impressed with what he saw.
“It was an eye-opening experience because it just made me really see their vision,” Hill said. “I can really change the program and just be different from everyone else.”
Hill, 6’5, 215 lbs, had offers from Alabama, Auburn, Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, and Florida State among others, but chose the Tigers for what they are building under Silverfield. What makes him stand out is his frame and that he has a cannon of an arm. He can make all the throws you are looking for but needs some time to develop into a quality starter. There are major accuracy, footwork, and timing issues that need to be addressed. But over time, if these things get ironed out, Memphis might have a good one here in Hill.
