Rashee Rice Vows To Mature After Chaotic Offseason

To say that Kansas City Chiefs Wide Receiver Rashee Rice has had a tumultuous offseason would be putting it mildly.

Rice was all over the news when he was involved in a multi-car accident in Dallas in April, where he is currently facing aggravated assault charges among other charges. The second-year man out of SMU was allegedly involved in an assault in a nightclub, also in Dallas, but the local police would clear him of potential charges shortly after.

Rashee Rice spoke to the media yesterday for the first time since all of this went down, and vowed to mature after a litany of off-the-field issues.

Full quote via NFL.com:

“I’ve learned so much from [the offseason troubles],” Rice said from a youth football camp in Kansas City alongside his fellow Chiefs wideouts, via PJ Green of Fox 4 Kansas City. “All I can do is mature and continue to grow from that. This is a step in a better direction for me.

“Accidents and stuff like that happen, but all you can do is move forward and walk around being the same person, try to be positive so that everybody can feel your love and your great energy.”

I really do hope that we don’t hear Rashee Rice in the news after the things we saw this off-season. The car crash incident was a really bad look for the budding star receiver, and then his name being brought up in the nightclub incident right after that was troubling, to say the least.

Rice has had a good start to his NFL career, finishing last season with 79 receptions for 938 yards and seven touchdowns. With the newly drafted Xavier Worthy in the mix, the Chiefs may have officially finished revamping their receiver room, but just need Rice to stop being a knucklehead and focus on football.
