Shout out to Ben Franklin. The man is on the $100 bill but 99% of Americans probably have no idea what Franklin accomplished for this country. Apple TV produced a show but is it worth the watch? That’s what we’re here to talk about as I do my best to limit the spoilers.
I love history programs so keep that in mind as we do this review. Maybe that stuff isn’t for you but history is a great teacher of the past to use as guiding lessons of tomorrow.
Anyway, without burying the lede too much, I’m in on this show. It essentially details Franklin’s journey in France as he maneuvers his way into getting the French to help during the Revolutionary War. That’s the long and short of it but there are intriguing twists and turns along the way.
The butterfly effect on some of this stuff is crazy. Where would we be as a country if Franklin totally failed in his efforts? Who knows but it’s an interesting topic to reflect on. I bet 99% of the people reading this post had no idea that Franklin was in France during the war cooking up things behind the scenes.
More than anything, this is a Ben Franklin respect tour. A man who has accomplished so much is often forgotten as one of the founders of this country. Some of the stuff that happens in the show is a bit out there but it’s fairly entertaining. Especially looking at all the people in wigs acting ridiculous.
Regardless, this is a show you can binge-watch easy. It’s eight episodes long as a mini-series with zero plans for season two. I recommend it, especially if you’re a history nut like me.
