Jordan Howard is basically a forgotten man. Howard signed with Miami this offseason and is entrenched for a major role. Howard is expected to be the lead back with Matt Breida as the change of pace. The former standout at Indiana is excited to be part of the Dolphins turnaround.
“I just liked the opportunity it presented,” Howard told the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. “I felt like we’re turning things around down here, I just wanted to be a part of that. I was part of a turnaround in Chicago, so I embrace those type of things.”
“I really don’t have anything to prove to anybody, just to myself that I can still be that type of player,” said Howard, who signed a two-year, $6.72 million deal with the Dolphins. “[I] just feel like I’m one of the top backs in the game, even [if] people don’t give me respect or credit or anything like that.
Speaking of the Bears, Howard had some really good years there but somehow got worse as time went on. As a rookie, he averaged 5.2 yards per carry over the course of a 1,313 yard season. He hasn’t returned to that level of play but did average 4.4 yards per carry with Philadelphia last year. It’s clear from watching him with the Eagles, Howard still has juice.
Is this someone that you should invest in fantasy? I actually think there could be some value here. Ryan Fitzpatrick was the Dolphins leading rusher last year. It’s clear Miami wants Howard to be a bell cow. The opportunity is there on what should be an improved team.
