Jonah Elliss 2024 NFL Draft Profile

I think I’ve done like 500 players by now. It feels that way anyway. Let’s just agree to not care about these intro paragraphs for the rest of these. Here is your 2024 NFL Draft Profile on Jonah Elliss!

It was a down year for Utah in 2023. Cam Rising not playing had something to do with it. Utah wasn’t featured as much as they normally are in the Stock Report notes. However, Elliss still found a way to make the notes. The guy was a total beast early in the year against Florida putting him firmly on my radar

Elliss comes from a football family and he may be the best of the bunch. Well, at least in terms of being the best son that came from the loins of Father Luther. Father Luther played at the NFL level for a decade. Jonah has three brothers who have also played at the NFL level. Most notably Kaden who currently plays for the Falcons.

One thing those Elliss boys have is a relentless motor. In terms of pure gas tank, this dude may have the best one in the entire draft class. Just a non-stop wrecking ball who impacts the game. Elliss played sparingly as a freshman and was Honorable Mention All-Pac-12 Conference in 2022. Might be a bit of a one year wonder but Elliss departs for the NFL after a strong junior season. In 2023, Elliss was Second-team Associated Press All-American and First-team All-Pac-12 Conference. That season includes 16 TFLs and 12 sacks. He’s also had a knack for forcing fumbles during his collegiate career.

The downside here is that Elliss isn’t a crazy athlete. Didn’t run the 40 or any of the work at the Combine. I’m not sure he’s overly strong either. Mostly needs to build up the lower half strength. Can be heavy footed at times. He wins with physicality and a array of pass rushing moves combined with a non-stop motor. How does that translate to the NFL level? Will he just be okay because of the limited pure athletic ceiling? Was just a three star guy coming out of high school and really doesn’t have that freaky bendy stuff that athletic pass rushers do.

Elliss, 20, still has room to grow and I’m in on the player. I have a third/fourth round grade on the player. I think he will turn into a capable starter who cashes in on his fair share of sacks. I’ll take him on my team.
