Graham Barton 2024 NFL Draft Profile

Duke’s Graham Barton is next up on the list to receive their 2024 NFL Draft profile. Barton played Left Tackle last season for the Blue Devils, but I think a move inside (potentially down two spots) is going to prove to be the best decision for him entering the draft. We’ll get to why I think a potential move down all the way to center is intriguing.

Barton, a former three-star recruit out of Tennessee, played all four years for the Blue Devils. He played in six games his freshman year, then became the starter his sophomore year, and went on to start 33 games from then on. He allowed six sacks his first year starting, but would only allow four along with zero QB hits combined the following two seasons.

I don’t see Graham Barton as a left tackle in the NFL. He just lacks the length you’re looking for. Barton was invited and planned on attending the Senior Bowl this year, but had to miss due to injury, but was scheduled to work out as guard and center. He admittingly would be one of the taller Centers in the league at 6’5, but he’s got the playstyle you look for. I think he will make a hell of a Guard.

Graham Barton absolutely explodes off the line, is quick to engage with his defender, and has very strong hands. That first punch is solid. Has the acceleration to get out on pulls and sweeps, and is tenacious to follow into the second level and beyond. Thicker than a snicker, in the best way possible. Drops his ass and anchors in. Nice wide base with a good kickback. Never feels like he rushes to get to his defender as well which is huge.

If an NFL team drafts Barton to play tackle, the length is going to be an issue. The tape shows that he struggles with those true power rushers who can get inside first. He was able to use his raw strength in college but will need to sharpen his overall skills to make a clean transition to the NFL. Gets to the second level well, but has a tendency to overextend, leading to either missed blocks to defenders shedding the block easily.

I think Graham Barton is a Left Guard in the NFL but would 100% give him reps at center to see what he looks like. I have a second-round grade on him. He has the natural skills it takes to make the move inside to Guard and I believe he could thrive there.
