Reggie Miller agrees to long-term extension with Turner Sports

Former 18-year NBA veteran and current broadcaster Reggie Miller has agreed to a long-term extension with Turner Sports, the company announced Thursday.

Miller joined TNT as an NBA Analyst in Aug. of 2005, just months after he retired from the NBA. He has been a staple of TNT broadcasts as a color commentator alongside Marv Albert and Kevin Harlan. Miller, 58, is the current co-lead broadcaster on TNT with Harlan and former NBA head coach Stan Van Gundy, who re-joined Turner after the 2020-21 NBA season.

“I’ve been lucky enough to have two constants in my adult life: 18 years with the Indiana Pacers and 19+ years with TNT Sports,” Miller said Thursday in a statement. “Excited to be back and proud to be part of this amazing TEAM, let’s keep chasing history together.”

Miller’s new contract will extend him past the 25-year mark with the company, Turner announced. He is expected to continue his role as a color analyst throughout the rest of the season, including this weekend’s NBA All-Star Game–hosted in Indiana, where Miller spent his entire 18-year NBA career–and the postseason through the Conference Finals.

“We’re so fortunate to have Reggie as a part of our TNT Sports family,” Nate Smeltz, SVP, Talent Relations & Global Communications, TNT Sports, said in the announcement. “There is no finer ambassador for the NBA and everything we bring with our coverage of the league, and we’re thrilled to extend our relationship for many years to come.”

Miller has called 650 national NBA regular season and playoff games throughout his broadcasting career with TNT, including 13 NBA Conference Finals. As one of the prominent voices in basketball, this is a well-deserved extension.

It remains to be seen how much Turner’s role in NBA coverage will change in the new media rights deal, but it should still have a distinguished role with the infamous “Inside the NBA” pre-and postgame show plus the television broadcasts on Tuesday and Thursday nights. Other cover voices who could be impacted include Greg Anthony, Brendan Haywood, Grant Hill and Candace Parker.
