GG Jackson Signs Four-Year Deal With Memphis Grizzlies

The Memphis Grizzlies have signed rookie forward GG Jackson to a four-year deal, according to ESPN NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski.

The four-year deal includes three guaranteed seasons. The exact financial details have not been released.

Memphis waived Chimezie Metu to clear a roster spot for Jackson.

The Grizzlies selected Jackson with the 45th pick in the 2023 NBA Draft. The rookie was signed on a two-way deal, but his play quickly earned him a standard NBA contract.

Jackson, 19, inked his deal with Memphis after a 27-point performance against the Bulls. That performance made Jackson the youngest player in NBA history to drop 25 points off the bench.

In the NBA Draft process, Jackson was cast as a high-upside player who needed time to develop his full skill set. Jackson dispelled that theory as he immediately contributed to a struggling Memphis squad. In 20 games, Jackson has three 20-point games and several other respectable outings.

Jackson is averaging 9.9 points and 3.8 rebounds while shooting 42.9 percent from the field and 38.3 percent from behind the arc. That stat line has come off 18.4 minutes per game.

Jackson could be in line for a boost in minutes for the remainder of the season. The Grizzles moved off forwards Xavier Tillman and David Roddy at the NBA Trade Deadline. Despite also adding Yuta Watanabe and Lamar Stevens, Memphis opened up more court time for its 19-year-old rookie.

Jackson’s early success and subsequent four-year deal cements the second-round draft pick as a homerun selection for the Grizzlies.
