Will The Vic Fangio & Kellen Moore Pairing In Philadelphia Work?

When people tell you who they are, believe them. Nick Sirianni told you who he is. The offensive coordinator is going to be an independent contractor. The defensive coordinator is going to be an independent contractor. Nick Sirianni will consider sitting in a defensive meeting. Except we now know that Kellen Moore and Vic Fangio are going to be those contractors.

Will the Moore and Fangio pairing work? That’s the real question. I’m just not sure it’s actually a question. Of course, it’s not going to work and it probably has disaster written all over it.

It’s more and more obvious that Shane Steichen was the brains behind the Eagles Super Bowl team last year. The offense cratered without Steichen and he somehow almost got a bad Colts team into the playoffs with Gardner Minshew. Brian Johnson is out entirely after calling the plays this past year.

We have to analyze this thing at the top. Sitting in defensive meetings doesn’t make you the head coach. The head coach is supposed to instruct the staff members on the kind of football team he wants. The fact that Sirianni admitted he didn’t do that in the press conference is alarming.

Next year’s Eagles team will come down to Moore and Fangio. I’m just not sure how you can have confidence that pairing is going to work. The Cowboys’ offense got better when Mike McCarthy took over. The Chargers offense was a disaster last year.

I just don’t know how it works. Joystick loves calling pass plays. Fangio is going to want to choke him with the number of times he’s going to put that defense back on the field without burning any clock. Why would you even want to hire a heavy passing playcaller with Jalen Hurts as your quarterback? That doesn’t even make sense.

2024 will probably be a lost year for the Eagles. It’s a matter of who they hire for the 2025 NFL Season. It is what it is. I can’t wait to see Fangio and Joystick co-exist. Can’t wait. Someone might get choked out and I’m ready for it.
