The Louisville duo is back together again. Malik Cunningham and Lamar Jackson were teammates at Louisville. Now they will be again at the NFL level. The Baltimore Ravens have signed Cunningham off of their practice squad. Cunningham now has a spot on the 53-man roster and will head south to Maryland.
Adam Schefter at ESPN was the first to report the news:
“I wanted to thank Mr. Kraft and Coach Belichick for giving me opportunity to play with the Patriots,” Cunningham said before boarding his flight to Baltimore. “I learned a lot from them.
“I want to be a coach one day, so I would take notes from Coach Belichick because he’s one of the greatest of all time. I had great teammates in New England and built relationships that will last a lifetime. But I just feel like this is a good opportunity for me and I’m excited to be a Baltimore Raven.”
The Ravens will now carry four quarterbacks on their roster. Maybe that indicates that Cunningham will play a hybrid type of role. He played some receiver for the Patriots during his time there. The Ravens QB room now consists of Jackson, Tyler Huntley, Cunningham, and Josh Johnson.
Compare that to what New England has going on. They’re now down to Bailey Zappe, Mac Jones, and Will Grier.
