Dynasty Owners Should Consider Investing In Josh Downs

Dynasty Owners Should Consider Investing In Josh Downs

Maybe Josh Downs is owned in your dynasty league. Maybe he’s not. All I know is what we have seen thus far this year should be viewed as encouraging. Fantasy football owners that participate in keeper or dynasty leagues really need to consider investing in Josh Downs before it’s too late.

Downs, the rookie third round pick out of North Carolina, has flashed in his debut season with the Colts. Through 12 games, Downs has notched 51 receptions for 580 yards and two scores. He’s also done a lot of this damage without Anthony Richardson. That’s while also carrying a 65.4% catch rate as a rookie.

More so than even that, I think you want to buy Colts stock. This team really isn’t even good and Shane Steichen keeps finding ways to win. The Colts made a really smart hire. The Eagles offense has gotten worse since Steichen left the building. Indianapolis went 4-12-1 last year. This year they’re 7-5 with Gardner Minshew and virtually the same roster. That’s coaching.

The Colts are scoring 25 points per game which ranks 8th in the NFL. They don’t even have good players. What’s going to happen when this young core really develops? Downs is part of that group.

Prior to the season, I compared Downs to Santana Moss. That feels really accurate right now based on what we’ve seen. Not saying Downs will ever be an aircraft carrier that launches you to wins. However, Downs is capable of having big weeks and can handle a large target share.

Something to keep in mind. Plus, the Colts don’t exactly have a plethora of other receiving options. As Downs develops, he’s going to become more and more reliable in fantasy. I’d strike now while you still can. Downs will become a good player and this situation in Indy is only becoming more ripe.
