Deebo Samuel Thinks Brock Purdy Is Undoubtedly The MVP

After the San Francisco 49ers’ statement Week 13 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles Sunday, Brock Purdy became one of the MVP favorites, according to betting odds. After that victory, the 49ers are the best team in the NFL and it really isn’t up for debate.

The whole team has been firing on all cylinders this year, but Deebo Samuel thinks Purdy should win the MVP award.

Man, my boy number one right now,” Samuel told Kay Adams Tuesday, via 49erswebzone. “It ain’t even up for debate.

Purdy leads the league with a passer rating of 116.1 and has 23 touchdown passes–three behind Dak Prescott, who leads the NFL with 26.

He’s just got to keep stacking games, stacking days, stacking weeks. We got to go out here and continue to make plays for him, and I think he’ll get the job done as far as the MVP conversation,” Samuel said about Purdy. “But I don’t think that’s his ideal goal as far as something that he really wants to accomplish right now. I think, at the end of the day, as a whole, as a group, as a team, we want to be standing there at the end of the year holding the Lombardi Trophy.

As a 49ers fan, I like that the team supports each other like this and that they have the Lombardi on their mind. I may be biased, but I’m not crazy. I don’t even think Purdy is the MVP of this team. Samuel or Christian McCaffrey hold more value than Purdy and that has become evident when they are hurt.

What happened to the 49ers when Deebo got injured this year? They lost three games in a row. He returned after the bye week and the 49ers are on a four-game winning streak and have become the hottest team in football. When Samuel and McCaffrey are on the field together, it’s a nightmare for teams. Just ask the Eagles. A 10-1 team just got circles run around them and even Jalen Carter was crying on the sideline from the beating they took.

It’s clear as day that Samuel and McCaffrey are vital to this team’s success and barring any major injuries, they are the clear frontrunners and the team to beat.

The best team in football entering Week 13 had absolutely zero response for Deebo Samuel and Christian McCaffrey; while Purdy played great, he wasn’t the one breaking tackles and getting 30 yards after the catch. Purdy is a great facilitator and a good young leader, but he is not the league MVP.

I actually think the league MVP should be Tyreek Hill if he breaks the 2,000-yard mark, but that’s a discussion for a different day.
