Twitter Is Trying A New Experiment That Asks Users If They Read The Articles They’re Sharing

Last Modified: February 19, 2024

Twitter
God does exist. Twitter is trying out a new feature that asks users if they read the article they’re sharing. How do we implement this NOW!

It turns out there is a heaven after all. One of the things I’ve failed to wrap my head around is why so many people on Twitter share things without reading them. We get comments on our posts all the time that make zero sense but the user commented on the first sentence of the intro to the article in Twitter. It drives me insane. I’ll give a perfect example.

This fucking moron commented on the post about the Cowboys 2020 NFL Draft War Room. The post goes over what Dallas might do during the draft. This clown comments about Vander Esch. There was no need to reply back.

A: Dallas did hit a home run picking him. He’s one of the best young linebackers in football.

B: READ THE FUCKING ARTICLE YOU NOOB! It had nothing to do with Vander Esch.

Twitter is trying to get rid of these people forcing them to read before sharing or commenting.

VIA New York Post:

In an effort to suppress misinformation and knee-jerk retweets, the social-media company is testing a new feature that would ask users whether they’ve actually read the content they’re about to share.

The new function has already been added to some Android devices.

“Sharing an article can spark conversation, so you may want to read it before you tweet it,” said Twitter in a statement. “To help promote informed discussion, we’re testing a new prompt on Android — when you retweet an article that you haven’t opened on Twitter, we may ask if you’d like to open it first.”

This is a great feature. I hope they install it full time and force people to actually read it and they can’t comment until they do. God, that would be great. It would help our page views and I’m sure the clowns at BR would get a lot less views because people would realize their content stinks. This can’t be implemented fast enough. I only share content from my site but I’ve never once shared something without reading it first. It blows my mind how people do that.
