AEW World Champion MJF on Hulk Hogan: He’s a liar and a racist

Current AEW World Champion MJF has given his thoughts on WWE legend Hulk Hogan, and much like his sharp tongue on Dynamite, he didn’t hold back.

Despite being arguably the most recognizable figure in wrestling history, Hulk Hogan‘s legacy has become rather controversial in recent years. In 2012, he was involved in a sex tape scandal in which he was recorded having intercourse with Heather Clem, the estranged wife of Hogan’s good friend Bubba The Love Sponge. This led to a lawsuit between The Hulkster and the website Gawker, who publicly released the video, later that year.

Hogan was also let go from the WWE in 2015 after a recording surfaced that saw The Hulkster using racist language upon learning that his daughter Brooke was dating an African-American man. The recording also caught Hogan using the word ‘n***er’ multiple times.

On top of multiple stories told by Hulk Hogan which have since proven to be false, which included wrestling in both Japan and the United States on the same day, performing 400 days in a single year, and apparently getting close to becoming the bassist for Metallica, it’s safe to say that not everyone is a fan of The Hulkster.

During an interview with Dr. Beau Hightower, MJF was asked why he thinks Hogan gets so much heat in the wrestling business, to which he responded with this:

“Because he’s a liar and a racist. It doesn’t change the fact that he was a massive draw and the professional wrestling business will never be the same because of him, for the better,” he said. “But there are plenty of professional wrestlers that did great business, it doesn’t mean they’re great people.

Chris Benoit is a great professional wrestler, it doesn’t mean he’s a good person. For some reason, wrestling fans kind of struggle with that. They can’t separate the two, which is why I think people love me. I’m out and out a horrible person, and I’m honest about it. At least I’m honest about it.”

MJF will be in action this Saturday at the AEW Full Gear pay-per-view at the KIA Forum in Los Angeles, California. He will be defending the AEW World Championship against “Switchblade” Jay White, and the ROH Tag Team Championships with Samoa Joe against The Gunns.
