Story time. Recently I was watching Daniel Oturu for work. There’s no baseball on so we have had to be creative at my job. Work aside, I couldn’t help but notice one thing. Is it just me or are these the softest screens I’ve ever seen? What the hell happened to setting hard screens and actually making them count?
Sorry, not sorry. This is one of the most pathetic things I’ve seen on an athletic stage. Forget the scoring and other parts of the game. Is this what basketball has become? I watched the entire Minnesota vs Penn State game. I swear Oturu didn’t make contact with one defender on any of the screens he set. My mind was blown.
Look, I’m not an avid college basketball watcher. I do March Madness and that’s about it. Maybe it’s not just Oturu but this man needs to be called out. Hey, guy… get in the job or stop looking like a cup cake. It’s ok to get your nose dirty. I’d take finger nails dirty from Oturu at this point. Even ice cream comes in soft and hard form. Oturu’s screens qualified as neither. It was more like baby shit soft.
I would cross Oturu right off my draft board. Centers are a thing of the past. I’m on that train more than anybody. However, what good are they if they can’t even set a hard screen? Am I the only one seeing this?
Say what you want about Steven Adams but at least the guy does his job. I do wish we had more players like Bill Laimbeer today. I’m not even asking for that. Can we just have a few guys that set hard screens? I’m not asking for much.
The funniest part about the Oturu game I watched was he was mouthing off to Lamar Stevens on Penn State. Dude… who are you beating up with those screens you set? You should be embarrassed. We deserve to live in a world with quality screens. Not the baby shit that Oturu (and probably others) that put out there.
