Kelly Oubre and Christian Wood were the two notable free agents left on the table as we head into Fall with the 2023-24 NBA Season inching closer. Earlier this month, Wood found a home with the Lakers. Now it’s Oubre’s turn to sign with a different legendary franchise. Oubre has agreed to terms with the Philadelphia 76ers.
Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN was the first to report the news:
Oubre, 27, adds a serious scoring punch to the 76ers bench. The former Kansas product averaged 20.3 points per game for a bad Charlotte team a year ago. He also added 5.2 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game across 32.3 minutes per game. Oubre isn’t the best pure shooter converting less than 32% of his attempts from 3-point range a season ago. It still adds a nice bench scorer to the mix.
Who knows what’s going on with James Harden right now? If Harden doesn’t show up, this is a really nice scoring option to add to the mix. Harden has caused a lot of problems this offseason calling Daryl Morey a liar in the process. Not that we’re surprised by anything Harden does.
Regardless, Philadelphia lost Georges Niang, Jalen McDaniels, and Shake Milton in free agency. There will be plenty of minutes up for grabs.
Let us know how you feel in the comments. Do you think Oubre will actually help the 76ers or will this move prove to be a waste of time?
