Former NFL GM Rips PFF For Having Clueless Player Grades
Michael Lombardi was on the list of respect for a reason. You don’t have to actually agree with everything that he says, but there is no doubt that Lombardi knows what he’s talking about. On the latest edition of his show GM Shuffle, Lombardi absolutely trashed PFF.
Go to the 22:12 minute mark of the show. It’s just an absolute masterclass from Lombardi.
I have been trying to tell you guys this for a long time. PFF is trash and you can’t take any of their information seriously. I’ve put those idiots in my pocket over and over again. Once upon a time, PFF said the Baker Mayfield was the greatest quarterback prospect to ever grace the planet. You can never take their stuff seriously when it comes to evaluating quarterbacks.
There is just no way that Justin Fields played better than Jordan Love in Week 1. Just no way. The Packers won 38-20 and it was never really close with Chicago scoring in garbage time. Fields was completely terrible in the game too.
Lombardi brings up a good point – “Evaluate the evaluator”. I worked for Sports Info Solutions once upon a time and I can tell you exactly how PFF grades players. I saw it first hand except for a different company. They have a charting system and most of the work is done by entry level / intern employees. There is no consistency on the grades because there is no consistency on which person grades the players.
That company is clueless and broke. More and more smart people realize every day that they have a trash product. This is just another piece of evidence that seems to be never ending.
