Edge could leave WWE this weekend

Edge will take on Sheamus on WWE SmackDown this Friday, August 18th. He is celebrating his 25 year anniversary in WWE, and he has previously admitted that calling it quits in Toronto would be a fitting send off. Toronto will host this Friday’s show.

Edge himself commented on the prospect while talking to ET Canada. He confirmed that this match marks the end of his contract, meaning he could potentially leave as early as this weekend.

“Here’s what I can honestly say, and this isn’t the answer everyone wants. I truly don’t know. I really really, with 100% truth can say I don’t know. That’s strange for me, but I don’t. I really don’t. I’ve put some thought into it, but not a lot. This is the last match on my current contract. I don’t know. I honestly don’t know. I probably won’t know until I get to the locker room that night and decompress, let all the anxiety and tension that I never used to have before I performed, I have now.”

“That’s strange for me and makes it that much harder to do this. I’m going to be 50 in October. It’s not easy anymore. Before, what I used to take for granted to be able to do, now, there is a process and a fallout. There’s a lot. It’s the dream gig, but it’s getting really hard,” he said.

Edge came out of retirement in 2020, making his in-ring return in the Royal Rumble. He was said to have signed a three-year deal at the time. Edge last wrestled on the July 7th episode of WWE SmackDown, defeating Grayson Waller.

Known for his brief tenure in WWE and pairing with Randy Orton and Cody Rhodes, Ted DiBiase Jr. could be better known for his alleged crimes very soon. The 40-year-old has been charged with six counts of wire fraud, two counts of “theft concerning programs receiving federal funds,” four counts of money laundering, conspiracy to commit wire fraud, and conspiracy to commit theft concerning receiving federal funds.

If his charges lead to conviction, the former Tag Team Champion faces up to five years for the conspiracy charges, up to 20 years for every single count of wire fraud, and a maximum of 10 years for every count of theft and money laundering. According to Clarion Ledger, the corruption case is the largest in Mississippi history. DiBiase Jr. has pleaded not guilty.
