Zack Martin May Not Report To Training Camp
Six-time All-Pro guard Zack Martin is unhappy with how the Dallas Cowboys are handling his contract and may not report to training camp. Per ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter, Martin considers himself “woefully underpaid” relative to the market and believes the team has a “lack of interest” in restructuring his contract.

Martin signed a six-year, $84 million contract extension with the Cowboys on June 14, 2018. This year, Martin will make about $7 million less than the top-paid guards in the league. Atlanta’s Chris Lindstrom and Indianapolis’ Quenton Nelson average around $20 million with Martin’s averaging $14 million per season, the eight-highest AAV for guards.
He is well deserving of all the money the Cowboys have. Last season marked another stellar year for the 32-year-old, sporting an impressive 96 percent pass block win rate, the third-best mark in the NFL among guards, while giving up just three sacks.
In March, ahead of the new league year, the Cowboys restructured Dak Prescott and Martin’s contracts to help create $30 million in salary-cap space, turning nearly $12 million of his $13.5 million base salary into a signing bonus. Martin carries an $11.0 million 2023 cap-hit with a $23.3 million cap-hit ($13M base salary) in 2024 with two additional void years, per Spotrac.
According to Todd Archer of ESPN, the Cowboys are hoping to use training camp to extend CeeDee Lamb, Trevon Diggs and Terence Steele, while also potentially looking at a deal for center Tyler Biadasz.
Martin is tied with Larry Allen with the sixth-most All-Pros in Dallas Cowboys history. He’s been to eight Pro Bowls, and has only missed eight games in his career. He will go down as one of the best guards to ever play the game.
