Dalvin Cook is a free agent for the first time in his career after the Vikings released the veteran running back in June. It’s now been over a month since Cook has been on the open market. Apparently, he’s enjoying every second of the free agent process and isn’t in any rush to sign. It sure sounds like Cook is going to milk this free agent process for as long as possible.
“I think at every level, I made the right choice when I had the choice to go play ball. The process is fun, you embrace it,” Cook said. “If you don’t want to be wanted by people, then something’s wrong. As long as people want me, I’m good. I know I’m in the right spot. But going through this process has been fun. It’s been different every day, waking up with a different schedule. Just enjoying it. I think when it comes down to it, I just make the right decision. I’ve been doing it all my life.”
Cook, 27, played in all 17 games last season and rushed for 1,173 yards and eight touchdowns. Cook is still efficient sporting a 4.4 yard per carry average a season ago. There are a lot of veteran running backs on the market including Leonard Fournette and Ezekiel Elliott. However, Cook has the most juice left in the tank of any of those options still available.
The Dolphins should still be considered heavy favorites to land the Florida State product. A return home just makes too much sense. If it’s not Miami, the Jets, Patriots, and Cowboys have also been rumored as landing spots.
