The Rams Tried To Dump Matthew Stafford

Matthew Stafford might be totally washed. Can we really trust the Rams this year if they don’t trust their own quarterback? It turns out the Rams really did try to give up on Stafford before the start of the new league year. You’re going to want to hear this.

“When his option bonus was getting ready to kick in, they attempted, with a lot of effort, to trade him—any team could have had him. The problem was, you had to absorb the $59 million, and the Rams knew there was no way around the $59 million. They couldn’t get around it unless they traded him and somebody else took it,” Lombardi stated.

This is concerning! Does anyone have confidence in the Rams heading into the year? How concerned are the Rams with Stafford’s elbow? If Stafford were fully healthy, would trading him still be part of that thought process? It’s just really hard to imagine the Rams bouncing back if information is out there that they wanted out of the Stafford business.

Also, this Rams roster has taken a major step back from that Super Bowl year. Just this offseason alone, Jalen Ramsey, Leonard Floyd, Allen Robinson, and Bobby Wagner have all departed. That’s not even mentioning the fact that no young talent is on the way given the fact that they gave away all of their high-value picks. It’s looking bleak in LA but they won a Super Bowl so maybe it was all worth it in the end.
