Forbidden Door is only days away and we may have gotten an update about a third company being involved in the show.
Forbidden Door is a pay-per-view collaboration event between All Elite Wrestling and New Japan Pro Wrestling. This is the second year the event is taking place after last year’s show was a massive success. AEW is the second most popular professional wrestling company in the United States, while NJPW is the leading professional wrestling company in Japan, so it makes sense for these two companies to come together again for another special show.
However, there have been reports that Stardom may be involved in the show, though recent updates may shut down those reports.
Stardom is the sister company to NJPW, with both owned by the same company, Bushiroad. However, they are not the same company and operate on their own.
Stardom is an all-female professional wrestling company that is regarded as one of the best companies in Japan. One of the biggest flaws with the first Forbidden Door event was that there were nine total matches, and only one was a women’s match — in large part because NJPW doesn’t have a women’s roster. However, now that they and Stardom are owned by the same company, the two have started to work together.
Stardom reportedly will not be involved in the Forbidden Door event, according to Wrestling Observer Newsletter. These reports contradict the earlier ones that the company was reportedly going to be involved with the show. Furthermore, none of the Stardom wrestlers reportedly have Canadian visas, which would make it difficult to be involved even if they wanted to.
Thus far, there has not been any Stardom talent announced for Forbidden Door, so only time will tell if Stardom will be involved or not.
